Difference Between Windows and Linux

Well Guys, This is Dipanjan Dey,. Today we’ll learn about the Difference between Windows and Linux. So let me introduce about those two types of Operating System, their function, their advantages & disadvantages etc etc. So at 1st I’m talking about Windows. Well, in these days Windows is most popular Operating System. But Linux also using by many users in these days. Well many teenagers using Windows for many purpose, from them the main cause to using Windows for Gaming purpose, But remember, now Linux also support almost every Games of Windows using Steam. Actually many people think about Linux that, Linux comes with Only CLI (Command Line Interface) mode, but they’re wrong, Linux also comes with GUI (Graphical User Interface) mode. So I want to say, don’t fare to using Linux. Actually Linux is everywhere. Linux invented by Linus Torvalds. Ok, let me write down all important difference between Windows and Linux.

  1. We’ve to buy Windows OS, But in Linux, we don’t need to pay, It’s Free, Open source; Just need to download the ‘ISO’ file and burn to CD/DVD for use.
  2. We’ve to use Antivirus in Windows Operating System to protect from Viruses, Trojan, Malware, But in Linux System, we don’t need any antivirus.
  3. Windows need huge Hardware, such as RAM, Hard Disk, Processor, Graphics etc, in other hand, Linux need minimum require to use their system.
  4. Windows in slow than Linux.
  5. No any system is secured 100%, but Linux is quite secure than Windows.
  6. In Windows, We need to install all drivers of external devices, such as- Printer, Scanner; but in Linux no need to install.
  7. In Windows, whenever a user want to use any software, users have to download from the Internet, and then they have to Install in their system, but in Linux system, user only need to download from Software Center, and after pressing the Download bottom, it’s automatically Installed in Linux System.
  8. Linux is Fast, Free, Virus Free; but Windows requires a lot of computer resources (memory, processor, disk space) and thus Windows runs slower.
  9. In Windows, we’ve to use original Windows to Update Windows system, which means cost over a hundred dollars; in other hand, in Linux, we can update our system without any trouble, without any cost, it’s free.
  10. Linus also free and open source, anyone can download it, install it, use it, in fact user can modify it.
  11. In Linux, we can use the Distro without full install, we can use it using Live OS features; but in Windows there has no choice.
  12. Windows is User Friendly, that’s why many users like to use that; in other hand Linux also User Friendly Operating System in these days, Linux comes with CLI & GUI both.
  13. In Linux, every user can access to the source code. The fact that Linux belongs to the GNU Public License ensures that users (of all sorts) can access (and alter) the code to the very kernel that serves as the foundation of the Linux operating system. You will never lay eyes on code making up the Windows operating system.
  14. In Windows, there no need to remember any types of Commands for access something; but the other hand, in Linux, user have to remember some basic Commands to access some basic or advance work.
  15. Linux kernel is developed by the community, Linus Torvalds oversees things; in Windows developed by Microsoft.
